The Edison Studio collective, with the support of the Italian Society of Authors and Publishers (SIAE) for the project SIAE – Classics of Today, and with the collaboration of the Cineteca di Bologna (Film Archive of Bologna) and the Romaeuropa Festival 2016, announces the results of the Sounds of Silences international competition of musical composition for the moving image.
Over 190 participants from 40 countries submitted their compositions to the “Sounds of Silences 2016″.
The three finalist of “Sounds of Silences 2016” competition were:
ONE WEEK (1920) by Buster Keaton and Edward F. Kline – music by Vincenzo Core
POET FROM THE SEA (1927) by Hou Yao – music by Sauro Mori and Daniele Quaglia
EXCURSION SUR JUPITER (1909) by Segundo de Chomòn – music by Lorenzo Pezzella
On the 12th of November 2016, in the framework of RomaEuropa Festival 2016 the jury composed by Andrea Ravagnan (Cineteca di Bologna, jury president), Matteo Antonaci (RomaEuropa Foundation), Claudio Ambrosini (composer), Ivo Nilsson (composer), Giulio Latini (professor of multimedia communication at Università di Tor Vergata) awarded the following prizes:
Vincenzo Core, first prize (€ 3000)
Lorenzo Pezzella. third prize (€ 1000)
The second prize was not awarded by the jury
