Manao Tupapau
for flute (piccolo, flute in G), percussions and tape
has been composed in 1996. The work is included in
the project Variations Kreisel inspired by the theme
of the relation between music and colour.
The painting Manao Tupapau represents a perfect
fusion of music and literature, composition and
symbol. The electronic researches interactions
between instruments and tape. The elaboration
concerns many different samples of sounds
obtained by the same instruments and constitutes
a third line of sounds, a perspective and a depth
of field given to the live instruments, and, at last,
a kind of trompe-l'oeil in which the live instruments
interact with the recorded, in order to create new
parametric evolutions of the natural sounds, and so
simulating a real time intervention over the live
played music. The tape has been realized at the
Istituto Gramma. The samples has been produced
with Giuseppe Pelura and Rodolfo Rossi.
